Home Sweet Studio

A sweet breath of fresh ocean air. Home from the land of enchantment and, to celebrate, I spent some quality time in San Fran. One short drive + a longer BART trip = lost in a sea of anonymity. Besides the music and booze, the biggest perk of big city life is the option to float along anonymously whenever you choose.

Unlike the small town where everyone knows my name, I can shop and daydream through the San Fran streets without running into any nosey, Chatty Cathys . Yes, I would rather meander with my cutie, but alone time does not scare me. I can waste more time trying on clothes that I would probably never buy.

Aside from the clothes, I used the BART ride to jam to some tunes. This particular ride was set to the beats of Armin van Buuren. Ah, Armin. I choose these trance tunes in anticipation of next weekend’s LoveFest. For those of you who do not know about LoveFest, it is a day of free electronic music, crazy get-ups, mostly to completely naked people (predominantly old men and breasty young women) and dancing.

Super!? Well, once you look past the occasional glimpse of wrinkly old man wang, it is great. Though I am not hardcore enough (aka into busting out the dinero to go alone) to hit the bigger names at the after party, the free daytime music party will make even the most stiff and boring hipster shake his/her booty.

Coo Hwhip and Peach Pie

I made a peach pie the other day. It was pretty delicious. There was also some home made ice cream in the fridge. That is right, a la mode. Home made pie with home made ice cream. I really need to head back to the bay before I put on ten pounds.

Well, as I was eating the final piece of pie, I was reminded of Family Guy. I mean, sure my ice cream was a better topper, but I did indeed pretend I was adding some coo hwhip

Low on Posts

So the blog post juices have been running low lately. I blame it on the land of enchantment. Sure, it has its perks, but I feel like I have flashed back to previous years of my life. Minus all the bullshit, of course, it has been a pretty relaxing break. Before I head back to the bay and face the GRE and job searching, I figure I can crank out some posts.

Last night, I was driving around the town after dark. This town pretty much shuts down when the sun goes down during the week. Even the latest movie at the theater ends before 9pm. Sweeet. So, to quell my boredom, I grabbed my beau and headed to Sonic for an early-late-night snack.

On the way home, we passed the local pond (*Funny story there… the pond is named after a guy whose last name is Pond so it is Pond’s pond. Man, lame.*) Well, the pond’s center fountain now has a snazzy new minor light display. It is not quite as flashy as a Disney show, but that scene is what I thought of. Ta da!

If you want to know what Pond’s pond show looks like subtract the music, the boat, the characters, fireworks, all the water…. in fact, just envision a puddle with a little stream of water spurting in the air and a single light that alternates between three different colors. Woooo! Party! At least I don’t need to pay 60 bucks for this sweet treat and light show.

Raining Sideways

Weather is unpredictable. What is predictable, however, is the manner in which The Weather Channel turns every event into a gripping tale of man vs. nature. It doesn’t matter if it is hot, cold, or rainy, the team at The Weather Channel likes to create epic broadcastings for every flicker of mother nature’s movement.

Yes, a hurricaine is a big deal; the effects are never a laughing matter. Yet, I am always amazed at the play-by-play like approach that The Weather Channel uses.

Now, to the point. While I was stopped briefly on The Weather Channel yesterday, I heard one of the on-site team members utter a line that caused me to LOL and roll around the floor with tear streams of joy rolling down my face. Cue Ollie Williams, a fictional weatherman on Family Guy.

Yes, I heard the real-life weatherman utter “it’s raining sideways” and I was immediately reminded of jolly Ollie. Oh Family Guy… good laughs.
