LovEvolution!!!
Woo-hoo!
My beau and I are booking time in the city where we left our hearts… San Francisco! An awesome weekend of dance, music and San Francisco love.
Counting down the days… Awe gawsh, October is so far away.
LovEvolution — the new festival name is awesome, by the way.

I miss you Ruby Skye!
Jammin’ out to some Armin van Buuren and wishing I could shake my booty at Ruby Skye.
I want the beat pounding through my veins.
I want the lights to be dim, but colorful.
I want to spend $8 on a drink at the bar… well, maybe I can do without the over-priced drink…
Point is, I miss you Ruby Skye!
You should come to Oregon, Armin van Buuren… umm, strike that. I will just come down to San Fran.

Seagull + Hot Dog = Winner

Where: Fisherman’s Wharf, San Francisco
What: Hot Dog
Who: Girl and Seagull
It is a sunny day in the city.
This kind of day makes me want to stay outside. So, I head towards the waterfront.
This place is a tourist trap. Alcatraz clothes for babies and cartoonists making caricatures. All this kitsch makes my ass twitch.
Most locals stay away from this area. Me? I come here for the chowder in a sourdough bread bowl.
As I fly over the crowds, I scan for a target. It is not quite lunch hour—the pickings are slim. Looks like last night’s garbage has already been cleaned out. Damn. That is what I get for nesting too far from the Wharf.
I spot it near the beginning of Pier 39. A fresh hot dog. Not exactly my style, but I am hungry. There is one flaw, however. There is a girl who seems to think that the hot dog is hers. Ha! I will show her.
Alright, I have the hot dog in my line of vision.
Mine!
As I dive in for the steal, the girl holding the hot dog moves her hand. I will not be thwarted. That hot dog will be…
Mine!
Yes! Second time is a charm! I take a bite out of the bun. Oh, the bread is cakey and delicious. Ah ha! It appears that the girl no longer wants her hot dog—she has left it on top of a trash can.
Seagull + Hot Dog = Winner
Girl – Hot Dog = Loser

A Taste of Mystery a la Spellman
After years of gobbling up literary classics, historical fiction and chick-lit hits, I am breaking into a new genre. Not fantasy… that was so the new thing for me six months ago—my reading habits are constantly evolving. Mystery books, here I come!
Naturally, it all began at work. I spend several hours a day staring at books in every genre (*the worst of which are found in the ever-messy Craft/Hobby section*). A week ago, I organized the mystery section again. Only this time, I was drawn in to several titles.
For Austen fans, there are mystery series that star Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy or even Jane Austen herself. There are even mysteries that have a flavor similar to a romance novel. Mysteries solved by cats, mysteries solved from the beyond, mysteries solved by cooks (and saturated with recipes). Despite all the years my childhood home has bubbled over with mystery books (my mom is an avid reader), I am only now taking conscious notice of the genre.
My first taste in the world of mysteries is a series written by Lisa Lutz. The Spellman Files is the first of the series. Let me tell you, it is a great read. My bet is that I fall within the age range of Ms. Lutz’s target audience (*I get the impression that the series is the publisher’s chance to draw in a younger demographic of readers to the mystery genre*).
I am not about the summarize the novel—especially since I have yet to finish it—but suffice it to say that being part of a family filled with individuals trained in Private Investigation tactics results in constant chaos.
Can anyone say movie/TV potential? Yup, I can see it coming…
Check out Ms. Lutz’s website for more about this entertaining series: Lisa Lutz
