The Austen Genre
Oh wow, I have not created a post for quite some time. What can I say, I had a lapse of laziness.
Work has been the same. Organize those books! I have spent the last week working in the Fiction & Literature section. Rows, upon rows of books in this section. Working my way through the shelves, I found myself reading the back of several different books each day. The strange thing is that I have found a trove of books that I want to read but never would have know about if it was not my job to sort through them all.
I tell ya, bookstore or library work is such a treat for book lovers. Not only do I get to sort through countless titles, but I occasionally get free books. Score! One of the freebies that I picked up was a novel written with Jane Austen lovers in mind. Did you know that there is an entire sub-genre of novels whose authors are devoted to recreating, continuing, and building on the timeless pieces created by Jane Austen?
Lovely. I am an Austen fan. I reread Pride and Prejudice almost every year. What can I say, I love to escape into the world Miss Austen created–though I am not one of those women who longs for a Mr. Darcy. =D
So, since I am in the Austen mood, I have decided to try and work my way through each of Miss Austen’s completed novels. I even used my bookseller discount to get a super cheap book that contains seven of Miss Austen’s novels.
My recent purchase reminded me of a scene in the film adaptation of The Jane Austen Book Club. In this scene, the sole male in the book club is under the impression that Miss Austen’s novels are a series. Silly boy [hit minutes 7.38-8.50].
Man, I am a dork. Oh well, happy reading to me

Farewell Office
After months (almost a year), I am leaving the office that barely knew I was here. For this splendid occasion, I have composed a few sloppy and sarcastic words. Just to seal the deal, I’ve included some commemoration clips. Three cheers for me!!!!
Dear Office –
Farewell to thee, fare thee well.
After months, we part.
No sweet sorrows for thee, sorrow’s sweet not for thee.
In with a dither, out too.
Commutes to you no more, no more commutes to you.
The Temp fades, traces remain.
Farewell to thee, fare thee well.
Sincerely,
Me

Blue Shirt Monday
Blue is an awesome color.
Blue is flattering for lots of different people.
However, a problem arises when numerous people in a small span of square footage all decide to wear blue on the same day.
Today is an unplanned Blue Shirt Day at my office– unless of course there was an office memo that I missed but subconsciously knew about. Yes, males and females alike, me included, are wearing blue shirts. Not just any shade of blue, no sir. Light blue is the chosen color for today.
I have not witnessed this phenomenon, in such close quarters, since high school. Starting in grade school, the phenomenon would occur sporadically throughout a given school year. Of course there were the students who planned to dress alike and the schools that required students to dress alike; the phenomenon discounts such instances.
The same-clothing phenomenon is illusive, unpredictable. Yet, every one is bound to have fallen prey to the force at one point in time. Outside of today’s office instance, the last time I fell victim to the phenomenon was during my third year of college. After a particularly heavy night of drinking, dancing, and accidental cactus plant needles to the ass, my boyfriend and I decided to take a morning stroll to assuage our hangovers. Mere feet into our jaunt, we realized that we were wearing the same clothing colors. While he wore a red sweatshirt and blue shorts and brown sandals, I wore a blue sweatshirt and red shorts and brown sandals. Spooky. I can’t justly say that the same-clothing phenomenon is what caused me to vomit –chances are the booze I drank was the real culprit– but the sight of our unintentional cuteness was a bit overwhelming.
And so, upon noticing the presence of the same-clothing phenomenon at my office, I kept my yack-reflex at bay today and traveled to the depths of my memory in search of a relevant movie clip. Ladies and gentlemen, I now present to you Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried in Mean Girls [Hit mins 1:40 and 2:40]. Though the pink day in Mean Girls is planned, today reminded me of this scene.
